Situated in the West of Scotland with just over 90,000 residents we have a choice of rural, urban and waterfront locations.  The area has a rich past shaped by its world famous shipyards along the Clyde. Boasts many attractions ranging from:

Located only a short drive from Faslane Naval Base, West Dunbartonshire council has developed strong links with the naval community. There are many military personnel residing in the area and a large number of spouses / partners in employment with WDC.

There is a strong recognition of the flexibility required from spouses / partners during times of deployment.  The flexible working practices provided at WDC well support these requirements and every effort is made to support spouses / partners and their families.

Schools and Early Years

West Dunbartonshire has 32 primary, 5 secondary and 3 specialist schools.  These are all mixed and both non-denominational and denominational.

West Dunbartonshire Council offer guaranteed interviews to disabled Veterans, Reservists or serving members of the Armed Forces preparing for leaving the service. The Council are working to increase links to encourage employment from ex service personnel. The Council place high value on the skills and work ethic that ex service personnel bring to the business and are keen to develop this further.
