A colourful Christmas scene drawn by a young Clydebank pupil has been chosen as the winning entry in the Provost’s Christmas card competition.

Riley McLafferty’s design appears on Provost Douglas McAllister’s Christmas cards which have been sent to 300 individuals and organisations across West Dunbartonshire and beyond.

Each year the Provost selects one school from West Dunbartonshire to take part in the Christmas Card Competition and the chosen school for 2016 was Goldenhill Primary.

Primary 1/2 pupil Riley took first prize, P7B pupil Emily Thomson was second and P5 pupil Ava Milne was third.

The names of the three pupils and their school will be displayed on every Christmas card. Riley received a framed copy of the card along with a £30 gift voucher while Emily and Ava received a gift voucher.

Provost McAllister said: “I want to thank everyone who entered this year’s competition. The standard was exceptionally high which made choosing a winner extremely difficult. Congratulations to Riley and the runners up too.”
