Councillors are set to consider plans for schools in the Alexandria area.

Proposals to build a new Renton Primary; Language and Communication Base and Riverside Early Learning and Childcare Centre and also to invest in refurbishing St Mary’s Primary School were outlined to the Educational Services Committee in March this year. In addition the committee agreed there should be further engagement with the St Martin's Primary School community.

The committee will meet again on June 6 where members will be asked to consider appointing a contractor for the new build Renton Campus.

Councillors will review an evaluation of 11 potential options for providing education for the young people of St Martin's which reflect parental feedback.

The committee will also be asked to consider undertaking works to the existing St Martin's Primary to ensure that it continues to comply with Health and Safety requirements.

Laura Mason, Chief Education Officer, said: "The report set to be presented to the committee reflects both feedback received from St Martin's parents and carers as well as comments received from Renton and St Mary's parent councils. Eleven potential options for the future education of young people at St Martin's have been evaluated against criteria including the educational benefit. All of this information will be presented to committee members and they will decide the way forward."

The meeting will be held at the Council offices at Garshake, Dumbarton, at 2pm on Wednesday, 6 June.

The committee report is now available within the committee reports section of the Council website
