West Dunbartonshire Council would like to hear your views on the proposed draft Gaelic Language Plan 2019-2023 which has been prepared under the framework of the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005.

The Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005 was passed by the Scottish Parliament and seeks to secure the status of Gaelic as an official language of Scotland commanding equal respect to the English language.  West Dunbartonshire - like all Local Authorities in Scotland - has a statutory duty in promoting Gaelic language.  The WDC Gaelic Plan sets out a formal structure for how Gaelic language and cultural development will be implemented.
