Here's a smart resolution for the coming year: Start it off on a healthy footing at Balloch’s New Year's Shortbread 2 Mile Walk, Jog or Run. It’s your chance to take part in your first event of 2019
Now celebrating its 8th year, this iconic venue hosts this event where all participants get the chance to kick start their New Year’s resolution to get fit and active by going that extra mile or 2 Mile to be precise.

Event organiser

West Dunbartonshire Athletics Club, invites residents from the local community along with walkers, joggers and runners to come along and lace up their trainers on the second day of the New Year to take part in the event located in the National Park.
The 2 Mile course route follows the pathways around the park which starts at the main gates of the park, before take in the stunning images of Balloch Castle, the Walled Garden and of course the beautiful backdrop of the hills, before returning back to the main gates of the park at Balloch Road.

The Facts!

  • 10.30 a.m. Start - start just inside the main gates of the Park which is on Balloch Road. (Opposite the bus terminus which is next to the Co-Operative supermarket)
  • 2 Mile Event - The will be marked out with directional signs and limited stewards. It must be stressed that participants will run at their own risk.
  • Children under 11 years of age, must be accompanied by an adult.
  • No registration, no fee and no official recording of times. Just turn up for a walk, jog or run in the park.
  • Post-Run/Walk Celebration- All participants will enjoy a complimentary piece of shortbread , sponsored by Walkers. See website
