Overtoun Estate is at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills and extends to some 55 hectares, the majority of which is mixed oak woodland, grazing, and landscaped gardens.

The Estate is accessible to the public and is used regularly for walks and picnics. It remains something of a secret from the general public which means it is relaxing and quiet.

Overtoun House, which dates from the mid-19th Century, is currently run as a Christian Centre for Hope and Healing on lease from the Council. A tea room operates from the House, open:

  • 10.00am - 4.00pm Thursday - Saturday July & August
  • 10.00am - 4pm Friday & Saturday September - June

The Estate lies approximately two miles northeast of Dumbarton and is accessible from the A82 Glasgow to Loch Lomond trunk road at Milton. There is pedestrian access from Campbell Avenue in Dumbarton via an existing right of way.

The Woodland Trust Scotland's Lang Craigs Wood is also reached via Overtoun Estate.

Overtoun Estate also provides a good access point for the Core Path Network in the Kilpatrick Hills.
