This years challenge has now closed and we would like to thank everyone for taking part in this years challenge and making it a great success. Stay tuned to find out which school will be this years WDC Summer Reading Challenge champions.
This year’s West Dunbartonshire Libraries Summer Reading Challenge is Space Chase; an out-of-this-world adventure celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.
Your child can help our super space family, the Rockets, on a special mission - and have tons of fun along the way!
Come and help us celebrate this year's Summer Reading Challenge at Dalmuir Library with a fantastic family event delivered by the Glasgow Science Centre On Tour Team!
Fantastic, free, family fun day - it'll be out of this world!
Dalmuir Library, Tuesday 6 August between 3pm-7pm
At the heart of the Challenge is children choosing and sharing any books – in any format – that they like.
Novels, fact books, joke books, e-books and audiobooks all count and your library has staff and volunteers to help your child choose books they will really enjoy. Teachers tell us that children return to school with a new enthusiasm for reading too.
The Challenge is a great time to share and talk about books as a family and to celebrate your child’s reading achievements. Sitting down with your own book, newspaper or magazine sets a good example to kids – they will copy you – and reading a book together can really encourage a love of stories.
Your child can help their school become Summer Reading Challenge champions 2019. The West Dunbartonshire Council primary school with the highest challenge completion rate per school roll will receive a trophy and special prize for their school, so get borrowing!
While your child chooses their books for Space Chase, why not pick up a book yourself and discover the range of other great things on offer at the library?
All West Dunbartonshire libraries will be full of fun, free activities throughout the summer holidays so why not pop along and join in!
