Childminders offer a childcare service to parents, usually in their own home.
A childminder is a self-employed carer for children. They look after a number of children, often in their own home. Childminders may offer an after school or holiday service.
They provide care and education for other people's children in a family setting, providing a safe and secure environment where they make a positive contribution to the children's learning and development.
All childminders are registered with the Care Inspectorate and this is a legal requirement.
