The proposal for a new Activity Centre was developed in response to the Clydebank Charrettes in 2015 and 2018, where the need to bring more activity into the town centre and make better use of the canal was identified.
Consultation on the project took place in 2019 involving local community organisations, Scottish Canals, West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust and other interested parties. It was agreed a new activity centre, to enable delivery of land and water based recreational pursuits for all ages, would bring a much-needed vibrancy to the area and promote community health and wellbeing.
Funding to deliver the project comes from the award of £747,000 from Scottish Government’s Regeneration Capital Grant Fund (RCGF) plus from Place Based Investment Programme, and Council funding.
Timescales for the delivery of the project will be confirmed in 2024.
