Any Other Business

The issue was raised by Sinead Farrell at CHA regarding the times of our meetings at Centre 81, it’s not suitable for them to accommodate us at the times we require.  This is a matter that will be discussed further by email and not at tonight’s meeting.

Several issues were raised by residents:

  • Firework put through a letterbox in Braes Ave
  • Wheelie Bins taken by youths and put in the bonfire
  • Roads being dug up in Whitecrook every few months by different companies and are not being repaired properly
  • Dampness in homes not being dealt with in a timely manner, children and adults alike suffering ill health due to dampness. A huge health and safety concern
  • Rats in the back lanes and some gardens due to people discarding bags of rubbish
  • Empty property in Braes Ave, has been empty now for over a year and the garden and communal path been left to rot and ruin. The tenant above can’t even access her gas meter to obtain gas readings as it’s so badly overgrown now she can’t safely access it. Another safety issues. Also why has it been empty for so long?
  • Council need to prioritise repairs better, for example why spend money on paths fences when it should be spent on other priorities like dampness, roofs, drainage etc.
  • Council tax banding must be looked at and rebranded to reflect things like the flight path, emissions etc.
  • Wheelie bins in Abercombie street have been taken and set on fire almost every Sunday night by youths, police aren’t doing anything to help the resident
  • Housing inspector is rude, intimidating and a bully

All the above issues are from members of the public that are in attendance tonight. All were addressed by the appropriate people in attendance.

Requests to be made for people to be invited to our next meeting:

  • All the above named in attendance tonight
  • Police Scotland
  • Health & Safety officer
  • Roads Department
