The Cold Calling initiative aims to give householders within the zones the confidence to say ‘no’ to cold calling salespeople.
A cold calling control zone is an area where residents have agreed that they do not want traders to visit them without being invited.
The zones are designed to deter cold callers and educate and empower local consumers giving them the confidence to say 'no!'
We currently have five cold calling control zones within West Dunbartonshire Council boundaries. These include:

Trading Standards are offering a number of free call blocking devices to eligible residents, including people living with dementia and people experiencing a high number of nuisance phone calls.
The initiative aims to combat the problem of nuisance and scam phone calls, often targeted at elderly and vulnerable members of the community. The call blockers prevent unknown numbers from ringing through to residents telephones.
The equipment will enable residents to make sure that only calls from friends, family and other known and trusted callers get through. People who express interest will be assessed against the relevant criteria as there is a limited number of call blocking devices available.
West Dunbartonshire Council Trading Standards have a stock of 'no cold calling' door stickers available to any residents.
If you are interested in receiving a call blocker, no cold calling door sticker or know someone that would benefit from one, please contact Trading Standards at trading.standards@west-dunbarton.gov.uk or call 0141 951 7957
