West Dunbartonshire’s gritters are gearing up to start their winter shift again – but they need new names.
Residents are being encouraged to enter a competition to come up with creative titles with a West Dunbartonshire twist for the eight vehicles.
The best entries will be printed on the side of the gritting fleet – meaning they will be displayed all over West Dunbartonshire.
The competition opens today Monday 19 October and closes on Sunday 1 November.
Primary and secondary schools pupils are also being invited to enter the naming challenge.
Councillor Iain McLaren, Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, said:
“I hope residents are feeling creative and I look forward to seeing the suggested names, especially those that have a connection to West Dunbartonshire, our history and our people.”
Councillor Marie McNair, Vice Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development added: “We take our responsibility to keep West Dunbartonshire moving throughout winter extremely seriously, but this competition gives residents the chance to get involved, have a bit of fun and maybe even see their handiwork on display throughout our area.”
