Staff and children at Carleith Primary School Early Learning and Childcare Centre in Duntocher are celebrating after receiving a ‘very good’ rating in a recent inspection.
The centre received a glowing report from the Care Inspectorate during the unannounced inspection.
Inspectors highlighted significant strengths in the care provided to children, noting that they experienced warm, caring and nurturing interactions from staff.
The report recognised that children were meaningfully and actively involved in leading their play and learning and staff were skilled in stepping back, observing and allowing children to use their imagination. This type of play develops children’s problem-solving and communication skills.
It was noted that the setting was comfortable and welcoming which enabled children to move freely and confidently between indoor and outdoor environments.
Children had spaces to play and areas where they could relax and have quiet time. The playrooms offered a variety of resources which reflected children’s stages of development and interests, including dinosaur baskets, arts, crafts and a wood workbench.
Staff were enthusiastic about their role and management were praised for their clear vision developed in consultation with children, families and staff.
Councillor Clare Steel, Convener of Educational Services, said: “It is very encouraging to see the many highlights in this positive inspection report, which recognises the great work and commitment of the staff within the centre.
“The report highlights the fantastic job being carried out by management and staff. Their enthusiasm and dedication to the quality learning and safety of the children in their care is to be commended.
“I would like to congratulate everyone at the centre for their part in achieving this great report and the parents and carers for their positive feedback which is much appreciated.”
Councillor John Millar, Vice Convener of Educational Services, said: “It is great to hear that the children at Carleith Primary School ELCC are thriving under the leadership of its dedicated staff and being given the guidance, support and confidence to grow and achieve.
