Long-serving members of West Dunbartonshire's Children's Panel have been rewarded for their commitment to children and young people at a special recognition event.
The dedicated members, who had served a combined total of 55 years on the Children’s Panel, were each presented with a certificate and long service gift.
Along with recognising the long service of existing members, the Panel welcomed eight new volunteers who successfully completed their pre-service training.
Councillor Clare Steel, Convener of Educational Services and the Council’s representative on the West Dunbartonshire Area Support Team, said: “It is important for us to recognise the commitment of members of the Children’s Panel and all they do to help vulnerable children and families in West Dunbartonshire. These volunteers have spent their free time helping others and this small gesture is our way of thanking every one of them for their commitment to this service. The Hearings System makes a positive difference for many children and it is great to welcome our new members who will help and support local children.”
It comes as the Children’s Panel begins a drive for new volunteers with two information evenings being held to allow anyone interested to find out more.
A virtual information session will be held on Monday, 18 September at 7pm via Microsoft Teams, and an in-person information session will be held on Wednesday, 20 September at 6pm in the GP Room, Concord Community Centre, St Mary’s Way, Dumbarton G82 1LJ.
For joining details for the online session, please contact scott.kelly@chscotland.scot. There is no requirement to confirm attendance in advance before the in-person event.
Volunteers do not require special qualifications to sit on the Children’s Panel as full training will be provided.
