Provost Douglas McAllister led elected members and local residents in a flag-raising ceremony in Clydebank to mark LGBT+ History Month.
Every February events take place across the UK celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and non-binary history, including the history of LGBT+ rights and related civil rights movements.
West Dunbartonshire Council is proud of the diversity of our community and this was recognised by Provost McAllister as he raised a Rainbow Flag at Solidarity Plaza in support of the annual awareness campaign.
Provost McAllister said: "This ceremony, which has taken place in West Dunbartonshire since 2008, reaffirms our commitment to equality and human rights in an inclusive environment for everyone who lives and works in our community.
"We celebrate our area as a place where people can live the life they choose without fear of discrimination.
"And we recognise the struggles of millions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people around the world who continue to face persecution - and in many countries, prosecution - simply for being true to themselves."
