Residents are being encouraged to get on their bikes for a fun-filled weekend of cycling activities in West Dunbartonshire.
The Community Cycling Weekend, being run by the Council with support from Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and Loch Lomond Shores will host a range of different events between 17-18 June.
Free activities on offer include guided cycle rides around Balloch Park; bike checks and servicing by Dr Bike; e-bike taster sessions; and mini race tracks for young visitors.
There will also be entertainment from Lomond Radio, as well as performances from a clown unicyclist and musicians, alongside face painting and balloon art.
The event has been arranged as part of the build up to the UCI World Cycling Championships, which is coming to West Dunbartonshire in August.
All activities and entertainment will be located outside the National Park’s Gateway Building at Loch Lomond Shores in Balloch.
Councillor David McBride, Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, said: “This community event will be a lot of fun, with activities for all ages and abilities. We are so excited to be hosting two race starts for the UCI World Cycling Championships later this year, and this event is the perfect warm up to get everyone in the mood, as well as introduce cycling to those who haven’t had prior experience of the sport.”
School pupils from local schools will be invited to enjoy the event on Friday 16th June, before it opens to the public over Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th June.
Councillor Lawrence O’Neill, Vice Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, added: “Being a host for a huge event like the Cycling World Championships is fantastic and the positive impact is already being seen with this community event about all things bike. Our school pupils will get to enjoy the various events first, but I’d encourage residents to get down to Loch Lomond Shores and enjoy this family friendly event over the weekend.”
The Community Cycling Weekend event is being supported by EventScotland through the Community Cycling Fund.
