Families across West Dunbartonshire are being given the chance to enjoy a family fun day at Moss O Balloch this weekend with free fairground rides as well as police and the fire service in attendance.
It is the latest in a series of free family fun days taking place this summer as part of the Council’s Cost of Living initiative.
This Sunday’s event at Moss O Balloch from noon until 4pm will offer fairground rides, lawn games, arts and crafts and pony petting all free of charge. As well as the emergency services providing community engagement sessions, the RSPB will also be in attendance.
It is a continuation of the programme which was launched in 2023 following a motion from Councillor Michelle McGinty, the Council’s Depute Leader and Chair of the Cost of Living Working Group. She is keen to ensure all families are able to spend quality time enjoying fun experiences over the summer period.
Hundreds of families enjoyed last year’s events and the Council have invested in them to take place each year up to and including 2026.
Over the coming weeks, there will also be further family fun days at Levengrove Park on 21st July, Dalmuir Park on 28th July and Christie Park on 4th August.
Councillor McGinty said: “The Council want to support residents who are facing struggles to meet their household bills.
“Holidays and days out are an expense too far for some but being able to go along to a free family fun day can give them the boost that they need. Our parks are wonderful places to enjoy and the activities which are provided free through funding via the Cost of Living Working Group make these days extra special.
“I am delighted that we can host these once again with this Sunday’s fun day at Moss O Balloch which is set to be a great event with the police, fire service and RSPB also attending.”
Councillor Clare Steel, Vice Chair of the Cost of Living Working Group, added: “I would encourage families to head along this Sunday and to the other events planned for the rest of summer and look forward to seeing people from all over West Dunbartonshire making the most of the free activities.”
