Residents, visitors and business owners are being asked for their views on Mitchell Way in order to help shape its future.
The pedestrian route in the heart of Alexandria town centre was identified as a key area for regeneration both by the Council and members of the community as part of the 2021 Alexandria masterplan.
The area has seen significant changes since with the demolition of derelict flats and empty retail units as well as the construction of a new supermarket.
Now local people are being asked about their aspirations for Mitchell Way, and the wider Alexandria town centre, which will help inform future projects.
The Council’s regeneration team, who are leading the project will be setting up a stall at Alexandria market on Saturday 5 April between 10am and 3pm to gather views from those who use the area most. Architects Page/Park who are leading on the consultation and design for the project will also be in attendance and there will be a wide range of family friendly activities for all ages, so everyone can get involved.
For those who can’t make it in person, there is an online survey available now that people can fill in at Uplifting Mitchell Way | Page Park until April 18 and hard copies are available to collect at The Vale of Leven Trust, 9 Mitchell Way, Alexandria.
Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, Councillor David McBride, said: “Alexandria town centre is a vital part of the local economy and Mitchell Way is a key part of that.
“Your views and valuable input are important for the Council and it is vital for the community to see improvements in this area which will help drive more people to visit here.
“It is imperative that residents, visitors and business owners take this opportunity to have their say so that we can see improvements which are welcome and meet the needs of those who will use it for years to come.”
Vice Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, Councillor Lawrence O’Neill said: “By having their say in this consultation, local people can help ensure that development in the area is tailored to their needs and priorities. I would urge anyone with an interest in Mitchell Way to speak with the regeneration team on April 5 or to fill in the survey to make sure their views are heard.”
