West Dunbartonshire Council is seeking your views on the draft Sustainability Annex for the development of the former John Brown Shipyard, setting out a Sustainability Standard, as an annex to the  Design Codes for Queens Quay.

West Dunbartonshire Council are committed to a sustainable future and Queens Quay has an important role to play in meeting zero carbon targets. The draft Sustainability Annex aims to ensure that new buildings within Queens Quay are built to the highest possible standards of sustainable construction and therefore sets out the standards that all developers require to meet. This approach will enable residents and other occupiers of the site to maximise the benefits of lower energy and heat costs, as well as contributing towards a low or carbon neutral future for Queens Quay.

Draft Sustainability Annex

Unfortunately Council buildings are not open to the public due to the Covid 19 restrictions currently in place.  If you are unable to access the annex on the Council website and require an alternative format please let us know at the email address below.

The Council would welcome any comments or suggestions that you may wish to make on the draft Sustainability Annex.  For instance, we are keen to know:

  • Do you agree that the new buildings within Queens Quay should be built in such a way as to reduce energy and heating bills for future residents?
  • Are the proposed standards for sustainable construction and design of all new buildings within Queens Quay appropriate? If not, what standards do you think they should meet?
  • Are there any other issues that you think the Council should consider within the Sustainability Annex?

Any comments, views and further suggestions that you have on the draft annex can be submitted by email to Place& or by writing to Place and Design Officer, Planning, Building Standards and Environmental Health, West Dunbartonshire Council, 16 Church Street, Dumbarton, G82 1QL no later than 2nd December 2020.
