Apply for a Lock-up

We are currently reviewing the demand and condition of all our lock up sites across West Dunbartonshire. Until this has been completed lock ups are not currently being allocated.

Due to the high number of applications received, the waiting list is currently closed, and we are not accepting new applications at this time.

Lock-ups are fixed existing structures, usually made from concrete panels. West Dunbartonshire Council has a stock of lock ups on designated sites. 

Rates

Lock ups are charged at a weekly rate of:

West Dunbartonshire Council Tenant - £7.28

Non WDC tenant - £8.74

From 1 April 2026, rates will increase by 6.7% (WDC tenant £7.77; non-WDC tenant £9.33)

Terminating a Lock-up

If you no longer wish to rent a Lock-up, please complete the form below.

Please note: 

West Dunbartonshire Council require 7 days notice to end your lock up tenancy.

All monies owed should be paid by this day. You will be recharged for any items remaining in the lock up after you vacate the property.

Garage Sites

A garage site is a plot of land on a designated site, owned by the council. These plots are leased to tenants, who are responsible for constructing and maintaining a permitted removable garage structure that meets the council’s requirements.

Please note that West Dunbartonshire Council no longer leases any void garage site plots.

Rates

Garage Site Plots are charged at an annual rate of:

West Dunbartonshire Council Tenant - £100

Non WDC tenant - £100

From 1 April 2026, rates will increase by 6.7% (WDC tenant £106.70; non-WDC tenant £106.70).

Terminating a Garage Site Plot

Please note: 

West Dunbartonshire Council require 28 days notice to end your garage site tenancy.

All monies owed should be paid by this day. Charges will be applied for any garage structure or personal items that remain on the plot following termination of the tenancy.
