Saturday 18 January to Saturday 12 April ( 10:00 - 16:00 )

Scottish Maritime Museum (Denny Tank) , Castle Street Dumbarton G82 IQS

The exhibition centres on the 12 personal accounts of fishing vessel owners, skippers and deckhands alongside fishing industry scientists and analysts across Scotland.

Through Pride in the Seas, which is the first exhibition of its kind, dedicated fishermen and women, who follow generations in their family before them, speak candidly about the challenges they face. As well as diminishing access to fishing grounds, recruiting young people and preserving centuries old skills and knowledge, these challenges include public misconceptions particularly around trawling.

In their own words, they voice their commitment to responsible fishing which continues to show that fishing and marine life can successfully co-exist.

The exhibition also features scientists and analysts who are collaborating with vessel owners to develop new sustainable practices and technology.

The exhibition has been created by the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation (SFF), in partnership with renowned photographer Ian Georgeson, to encourage the public to learn more about the industry from within.

The exhibition is included in Museum Admission. The Museum is open Monday to Saturday 10am - 4pm.
