Who will be able to attend the leisure facilities?

Existing members and casual users will be able to book into the reduced capacity sessions. Bookings can be made via the website or WD Leisure App.

Is it safe to return to the centres?

Yes, we’re confident in our ability to minimise the risk of infection and keep both our members and employees safe. We ask that customers adhere to the safety signage displayed and maintain a safe physical distance whilst using our facilities.

What can I expect the first time I return to a leisure facility?

There will be some changes since your last visit to ensure your experience is both safe and enjoyable.

  • You are going to have to book ahead via the WD Leisure App or website to enter the facilities. This will ensure we are able to control the number of people in our facilities and ensure physical distancing.
  • You will be able to enter the facility at the commencement of your booked session.
  • To avoid congregation outside the facility please do not arrive early and if queuing, you will be asked to maintain physical distancing.
  • You will be required to provide your contact details when you enter any WD Leisure facility to ensure we record your attendance and adhere to the government Track & Trace guidance.
  • As you enter the facility you will see safety signage and directional floor markings. Please take notice of these signs/markings as they are placed around the facilities for your awareness and safety.
  • Physical distance spacing will be marked out where appropriate and there will be floor markers and other visual reminders throughout the facility.
  • Sanitiser stations will also be marked.
  • We prefer that you shower at home. Limited showering will be available (for swimming pool users only) and we ask you to spend as little time as possible in the showers and changing room
  • It is mandatory to assist our staff and your fellow members by wiping down your equipment with the sanitising wipes provided.
  • At the conclusion of your workout or class, please exit the building promptly, adhering to physical distancing guidelines.

Why are all facilities not reopening immediately?

Due to the long period of facility closure WD Leisure requires  to initially phase the reopening of facilities to ensure they are safe, viable and that we have the consumer demand to ensure these facilities are sustainable in the long-term.

We will frequently review this position and keep customers notified of the future reopening plans  on our website, WD Leisure App and social media platforms.

Why has the programming and times for customers / clubs altered?

Due to the restricted and phased approach in our core opening hours and reduced occupancy, WD Leisure have assessed and altered the facility programmes to meet the needs of government guidance and to ensure the safety of our customers within our facilities. The programme will be reviewed frequently, this may impact and limit access and ratios to gyms, classes, swimming pools and other activities. 

What additional safety measures has WD  Leisure taken to mitigate infection?

Training: all WD Leisure employees have undertaken Covid-19 training and awareness sessions relevant to their job responsibilities.

Sanitisation Stations: We have installed hand sanitising stations throughout the building. You must use these when you first arrive and during your visit.

Enhanced Cleaning: The facilities and equipment will be sanitised regularly throughout the day and will be cleaned every night when the facility closes.  Our teams will be carrying out continuous high touchpoint cleaning throughout the day and equipment cleaning between bookable sessions. We are also asking customers to clean each piece of equipment before and after use.

Protection: We have installed plastic protective shields at reception desks and provide personal protective equipment (PPE) for our staff, in line with Public Health guidance. 

Social Physical:  Signage will assist customers safely navigate their way through our facilities to ensure physical distancing is maintained.

Bookings: All activities must be pre-booked. This is to ensure there is adequate safe space for you to participate in your chosen activity and to avoid large volumes of people all using the main entrance.

Cashless Payments: To help minimise possible contamination risks, cashless payments are now our preferred method of transaction. Cash will still be accepted at our reception.

Do I require to wear a face mask in WD Leisure facilities?

You must wear a face covering when accessing our facilities to safeguard the safety of our customers and employees. You will not be expected to use the mask during your activity but we do require you to use it when entering and leaving and when walking around the facility.

You will not be required to wear a mask if you have a health exemption or are a child under 12 years of age.

Am I healthy and ready for exercise?

As per NHS guidelines we ask you not to attend the facilities if you;:

  • have any symptoms of Covid-19
  • are waiting for a Covid-19 test result,
  • tested positive for Covid-19 or you live with someone/have come in to contact with someone who has symptoms or has tested positive.

Will the toilets be open?

Yes, a limited number of toilets will be open at each site and subject to an enhanced cleaning schedule.

Are changing rooms and showers available?

  • Changing rooms and showers will be open for swimmers only
  • Changing rooms and showers will not be available for gym / fitness class users.
  • Limited Lockers will be available.

Will steam rooms and saunas be reopening?

No, not at this time. Due to the small size of these spaces, it will not be possible to practise physical distancing. Only facilities where we can ensure physical distancing can be practised will reopen in this first phase.

Air conditioning

Our air conditioning and ventilation systems have been modified to ensure only fresh air is provided within our facilities (i.e. no recirculated air). This will mitigate the risk of Covid-19 and is in line with industry guidance.

Family Bubble Session Rules

  • Members and non- members can book up to 7 days in advance.
  • Bookings need to be done either in person or via telephone and are payable at the time of booking. Payments are non refundable if less than 48hrs notice is given of cancellation.
  • Don’t arrive any earlier than 5 mins before your booked session.
  • Arrive with your full party swim ready – i.e. swim costumes on under your clothes. This reduces the time you will require to spend in the changing areas.
  • Use the toilet at home before arriving at the centre. This is to limit the time and the areas you need to use when you are at the centre.
  • Use family changing cubicles if you can for your full group and use the same cubicle to change when you leave the pool.
  • Stay in your family bubble as much as possible during the swim session and keep your social distance of 2 meters away from others.
  • Use of the flumes will be controlled by a leisure Attendant at the bottom of the flume. Children under 8 should be accompanied by an adult to climb the stairs. You do not however need to travel down the flume together if the child is confident enough to ‘go it alone’ but do remember to leave plenty of distance between yourself and a child if they go ahead of you. An adult will move faster than a child down the flume and we wouldn’t want the adult to crash into their child at the bottom of the flume.
  • Showering is very limited due to reduced capacities to ensure everything is Covid-safe. It’s best to plan to shower at home. Please don’t queue for showers if they are unavailable when you leave the pool.
  • Dry yourself and the children in your party quickly and if you have travelled to the centre by car it might be best just to pop the children into a cosy onesie to travel home to reduce changing time. There is additional time for changing in these special family sessions however limiting your time in the changing area is still the overall aim.
  • And last of all HAVE FUN!

What will happen with my Direct Debt?

During the temporary closedown period customers memberships were frozen. When services resume your Direct Debit will automatically restart. If this service isn’t restarting, your Direct Debit will remain frozen.

If you have cancelled your Direct Debit you will need to re-join.

When will my Direct Debit restart?

Membership direct debits will recommence from the 15th September.

If you pay on the 1st  of the month your payments will re-start on 1st October.

I no longer wish to be a member; what do I do?

Email leisureservicesadmin@west-dunbarton.gov.uk to advise of your cancellation, please also cancel with your bank.

I cancelled my DD membership but wish to rejoin; what should I do?

You can re-join via our website, App or by visiting our three leisure facilities.

I paid upfront for an all inclusive membership, what happens next?

Your unused months will be added for you to use.

Please do not come to the Classes if you are unwell, have any Covid-19 symptoms or have been told to self-isolate.

  • All fitness classes must be pre-booked.
  • Arrive at your booked time, not early or late.  Fitness classes will have limitations on capacity in order to maintain appropriate physical distancing. This may differ by class and by facility. To make things easier, you will be required to book your session so you can secure your spot ahead of time
  • For your safety, the safety of users and to meet our capacity levels, if you arrive late for your booked time, you may be refused entry
  • Wear your face covering until your activity starts and then again until you leave the facility.
  • Your class will need to be completed to allow you to be out of the building within one hour to keep the facility safe and to be fair to all users
  • Please come changed and shower at home.
  • Class programming has been re-designed to avoid member interaction and sharing of equipment. We ask that members adhere to social distancing guidelines by following the floor markings within the studio for the duration of the class.
  • Please listen to our staff at all times and follow their instructions
  • Follow Covid notices and signage
  • Wipe down all equipment before and after use with the sanitising wipes provided. Stay within marked zones or areas
  • Water fountains may only be used for filling water bottles. Drinking directly from the fountain is not permitted
  • Respect physical distancing at all times - Keep a 2 metre distance between you and other people
  • Do not use any equipment that has been placed out of use
  • You must not go from the fitness class to the gym or pool or vice versa. You need separate bookings and you must exit and re-enter the facility using the approved routes.

What happens if I book a class and can't make it?

If members can't make or attend the class, please cancel your booking via our WD Leisure app or the online booking portal.

Why are all classes a maximum of 45-minutes?

To ensure the enjoyment and safety of all our group fitness participants, all sessions will be a maximum of 45-minutes to allow us to clean workstations between classes.

  • Gym sessions must be pre-booked
  • Arrive at your booked time, not early or late
  • For your safety, if you do not arrive for your booked time, you will be refused entry
  • Wear your face covering until your activity starts and then again until you leave the facility.
  • You will need to complete your workout and be out of the building within one hour to avoid congestion in circulation areas
  • Please come changed and shower at home.
  • To be fair to all, please do not spend more than 10 minutes on any piece of gym equipment
  • Listen to our staff at all times and follow their instructions
  • Follow one way systems and Covid-19 Secure notices and signage
  • Wipe down all equipment before and after use with the sanitising wipes provided
  • Stay within marked zones or areas
  • Respect social distancing at all times - Keep a 2 metre distance between you and other people
  • Do not use any equipment that has been placed out of use
  • You must not go from the gym to the pool or exercise class or vice versa. You need separate bookings and you must exit and re-enter the facility using the approved routes
  • Ideally you should train alone, however, if you use a piece of kit requiring a spotter your spotter is required to wear a suitable face mask i.e. surgical face mask not a face covering.

Can I go swimming?

Swimming pools will reopen on 16th September with structured lane swimming sessions.

Do not come to the pool if you are unwell, have any Covid-19 symptoms or have been told to self-isolate.

  • Swim Session must be pre-booked
  • Arrive at your booked time, not early or late
  • For your safety, if you do not arrive for your booked time, you will be refused entry
  • Wear your face covering until your activity starts and then again until you leave the facility.
  • You will need to complete your swim and be out of the building within one hour to avoid congestion in changing and circulation areas 
  • Come “pool ready” if you can, including showering before you set off if possible
  • Listen to our staff at all times and follow their instructions
  • Follow one way systems and Covid-19 Secure notices and signage
  • Respect lane discipline and other swimmers, there may be mixed abilities
  • Bring your own drinking water
  • Respect physical distancing at all times – Keep a 2 metre distance between you and other people
  • Please do not use any equipment that has been placed out of use.
  • You must not go from the Pool to the Gym or exercise class or vice versa. You need separate bookings and you must exit and re-enter the facility using the approved routes
  • There is no equipment available to hire or borrow

When can I take my Kids swimming?

During the interim phase of reopening, we will be operating  time slots in the pools. These  sessions will need to be booked and do vary in layout depending on your chosen site. Please contact your selected facility to find out more about child access to pools.

When are lessons scheduled to return?

Swimming Lessons will be returning on a Phased Return from Tuesday 29th September.

Phase 2 - Returning classes from 2nd November 

The Vale of Leven -  All Skills 1 classes (teaching pool classes Primary 1 and upwards)

Phase 3 - Date to be confirmed 

Pre-school classes will not recommence until Phase 3. This is due to the restrictions on access to changing rooms as well as teachers being required to deliver from the poolside. We are progressing with several actions that will ensure we can deliver quality and safe lessons for this age group before reintroducing them back into the water. We will keep parents up to date with progress. Please note that parents can now book a swim for themselves and their children at one of our three swimming pools.


Phase 4  - Date to be confirmed

We are not able to confirm at present when the parent and child Splish and Splash classes, Disability Programme and Adult Swimming Lessons will recommence but we will keep the public as up to date as possible when we are able to provide these sessions.

Why are we returned with a phased approach?

There are several contributing factors, however the main point is that we are returning on a phased approach to keep participants and staff as safe as possible. Many other Leisure Trusts are not in a position to bring their lessons back as yet however we believe that we have extensive safety measures in place to allow a progressive return to lesson delivery. 

Will the time of my lesson change?

Some lesson times are changing by 15 minutes. Instead of all lessons changing over every thirty minutes they will now be staggered differently with changeovers occurring every fifteen minutes.  This will reduce the likelihood of overcrowded areas and provide more space in the changing rooms as children leave their lesson. 

When will I receive communication on my child’s lessons?

We have  sent two emails currently to our Direct Debit customers that provided information on the phased return of lessons.  Please check your junk mail if you have not received these.

Emails with class changes will be distributed week beg. 21st September focusing on Phase 1 initially.

What if I want to change my lesson time?

Please email swimmingdevelopment@west-dunbarton.gov.uk and provide your details. We are experiencing huge demand at the moment and appreciate your patience.

What changes are being implemented at the facility e.g. changing rooms, access?

The new procedures for each pool will be sent to parents/guardians via email along with any class changes. There will also be information videos available on social media and on our website to show swimming lesson procedures at each venue. 

Will my child have access to changing rooms before their lesson?

Children are expected to arrive ‘pool ready’. This means that they have their swimming costume on under their  clothes. Please wear clothes that can be easily removed (e.g. jogging bottoms, zipper). Your child will be directed to a designated area at poolside where they will remove these items and place them into their bag that should have their name on it. A plastic bag is recommended as they are splash proof however any bag will suffice. The bag should also contain goggles, towel and underwear.  Parents are asked to take jackets away with them and not expect these items to be put into the bag. 

What time should I arrive ? 

Arrive no earlier that 5 minutes before your lesson time and head to allocated drop off point.

Will my child have access to changing rooms after their lesson?

Yes children will be able to use changing rooms after their swimming lesson.  No showers will be available. Children will have a 15 minute period to get changed and must leave the venue as soon as they are changed. 

What should my child bring to lessons? 

Children should bring a bag with their name on it so that it can be identified as theirs. In the bag there should only be a towel and pair of goggles as well as underwear (as swimming costume will be on underneath clothes on arrival). The bag should be big enough for their clothes and footwear. 

Do I need to wear a face covering?

All parents /guardians and children 5 years plus are expected to wear face coverings while in our facilities. 

Will I be able to spectate?

At present there will be no spectating for swimming lessons until further notice at The Vale of Leven Swimming Pool and Clydebank Leisure Centre.

There will be  very limited spectating at the Meadow Centre

Where will parents go during the swimming lesson?

Parents will be required to leave the venue (the vale of Leven & Clydebank) whilst their child has their lesson. They can re-enter the venue to meet their child in the changing room 5 minutes before their lesson finishes. We will produce some videos which show the customer journey.

Will teaching be the same ? 

We will be returning to the Scottish Swimming Learn to Swim Framework. As per Scottish Swimming guidelines, our teachers will now teach from the poolside for all levels at present and will continue to deliver fun and engaging lessons that will develop your child’s swimming skills and confidence.  Use of aids such as noodles and floats will be used regularly to help build confidence of children with teachers being out the water.  We will also have additional support staff on poolside. 

What safety measures have you taken to ensure lessons can return?

New procedures and risk assessments are in place and being followed by all staff. For example, all equipment will be washed between lessons, physical distancing measures are in place throughout the facility, hand sanitizing stations are in place, one way system for children leaving poolside and those arriving, PPE for any first aid/support and deep cleaning regimes of all key touch points.

When will my Direct Debit recommence ? 

If your child is in phase 1 your direct debit will resume from 1st October 2020

If your child is in phase 2 your direct debit will resume from 1st November 2020

Dates of recommencing pre-school direct debit will be confirmed with pre-school customers prior to returning

What if I cancelled my Direct Debit during lockdown? 

Please contact swimmingdevelopment@west-dunbarton.gov.uk as you will have been removed from our programme. 

 

When will the remaining outdoor parks and pitches reopen for football bookings?

WDLT will reopen the remaining outdoor pitches as part of our phased approach and when it is safe, viable and the demand is evident to do so. This will also be in line with governing body guidance.

When will the remaining Community Centres reopen?

These facilities will reopen on a phased basis when it is safe, viable and the demand is evident to do so.

When will the We Do Sport programme re-start?

The We Do Sport programme will re-start from Monday 21st September and we are hopeful that bookings for the programme will open at the beginning of September. Please keep an eye on the WDL Facebook and Instagram pages for further updates over the coming days.

Has the We Do Sport programme changed?

The programme has been reduced slightly however the majority of sessions that were available before closure will continue to be available.

Some sports sessions have had to change venue with the vast majority of classes now taking place within a WD Leisure managed facility.

How do I book and pay for my child to attend an activity?

Our administrative support team will be extremely busy when our services reopen and we would appreciate We Do Sport customers to book and pay online. To access this facility you have to register by visiting www.wdleisure.net and clicking on the ‘Join Online’ tab. You must complete the form with your child’s details. Then click next followed by ‘Pay as you Go’ box to complete your registration. Once you receive your child’s login details you can quickly log in and book and pay for their We Do Sport classes online.

Will there be any changes/adaptations to any of the activities?

All Sports Governing Body Covid-19 related guidance will be followed at the We Do Sport sessions. These guidance documents can be viewed by visiting www.sportscotland.org.uk/

There may be some changes to the way facilities are accessed and used and our coaches may be required to limit the amount of equipment used at sessions.

What measures can I expect you to have in place to keep my child safe?

As stated above you will notice new rules related to entering/exiting the activity venue.

Social distancing, hand sanitising and equipment cleaning measures will be in place before, during and after each session as per guidance from the Scottish Government and Governing Bodies.

The above measures will vary depending on the facility so please pay attention to any signage on site and any instructions given by WDL staff.

Prior to any activity commencing, WLDT Coaches will also undergo additional training on enhanced Covid-19 Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, Operating Procedures and Safety checklists.

How early can I arrive for my session?

Please do not arrive before your session start time. Please also ensure your child is changed and ready to participate or can remove small items of clothing easily.

You should avoid congregating before and after sessions and be mindful to maintain 2m physical distance between yourself and others at all times.

Only one parent per household should attend with each child where possible.

Parents/carers and young people aged 12+ are also expected to wear face coverings while inside facilities. Young people will remove their face coverings once in the sports hall.

Can I stay to watch my child’s session?

If your child is 4 years and under then YES, you are required to stay at the session.

If your child is 5 years and above then NO, you should leave the session and return to collect your child at the end. If there is a requirement for a parent to remain for medical or support reasons then physical distancing measures need to be adhered to at all times.

Have session finish times been changed?

All sessions will finish ten minutes early to allow children to collect their belongings, wash hands (where toilets are accessible from the hall) and exit the facility to limit over crowding. The coaches will also clean equipment at this point.

Will there be different entrance and exit doors?

Each facility will have new procedures related to entering and leaving the facility. Where possible a one way system will be implemented at each venue. Please note guidance at your facility.

What are your First Aid procedures?

Basic first aid will be provided to participants and coaches will wear appropriate PPE while doing so.

Will changing facilities be available?

No. Children should come to the session ready to participate.

Will the coaches be wearing face coverings?

Coaches are not required to wear face coverings during the delivery of the session however if a coach chooses to wear a face covering they can do so.  Coaches will maintain distance from participants with no contact. They will wear face coverings in communal areas within the building (entrance hallway, toilets etc.).

Can I book after a block has started?

Yes. If there are still spaces available. Your payment will be adjusted pro-rata so you pay for the number of sessions remaining in the block.

Will I be informed if a child at a session develops symptoms and is confirmed as having contracted the virus?

Yes. Track and Trace procedures will be followed at all sessions. It is important that your contact information is accurate on our booking system. WD Leisure will not contact customers to inform them of any positive cases. This will be done by NHS Track and Trace Team.

Will coaches keep a safe distance from my child?

Yes – Coaches will ensure they stay 2 metres physically distant from participants.

Will equipment be cleaned before and after use?

Yes. All equipment will be wiped down and cleaned prior to and at the end of each session.

What are parents/carers expected to do to help keep everyone safe?

  • DO NOT ATTEND any activity if you or anyone from your household displays any related symptoms of Covid-19. Please also do not bring your child to our sessions if anyone in your household are self-isolating as per Scottish Government guidelines.
  • Parents/carers who are supervising their children should abide by Scottish Government physical distancing guidance and stay at least 2m away from those out with their own household.
  • Groups of parents from different households should not congregate before, during or after the activity, however if the children are too young to be left alone then parents should follow facility guidance regarding capacity figures and physical distancing guidance.
  • Parents/carers will be encouraged not to spectate during activity sessions in order to ensure physical distancing measures for adults are maintained. This applies before, during and after the session.
  • Talk to your child about returning to training to help them understand the measures that have been taken to keep them safe.
  • Remind your child it is important they focus on having fun
  • Ensure your child washes their hands thoroughly before the session and arrives ready to participate
  • Your child should bring their own water bottle with their name clearly visible.
  • To limit over-crowding, please bring your child to the activity session on your own, following our advice on arrival times (don’t arrive early).
  • Ensure you and your child’s hands are sanitized immediately after the session
