Purpose

As parents and carers of entitled children aged 3 and 4 years, and eligible 2 year olds living in West Dunbartonshire Council, you can opt for a level of flexibility and choice to meet your childcare and family requirements in line with the Funding Follows the Child approach. You can request early learning and childcare  from a local authority that you do not reside in. This is known as a Cross Boundary Funding request.

You can ask a funded provider working in partnership with any of the named authorities to make a request on your  behalf to the host local authority for early learning and childcare funding for your child. The funded provider (private, voluntary, 3rd sector or childminder) must be in partnership with the host local authority.

West Partnership Cross Boundary Local Authorities have collaborated to produce a Cross Boundary Protocol which is designed to support funding requests, where physical and financial capacity allows.

The West Partnership Cross Boundary Local Authorities include: Argyll & Bute, East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Glasgow City, Inverclyde, North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, South Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire.

Procedure

You can ask a funded provider working in partnership with any of the named authorities to make a request on your behalf to the host authority for Cross Boundary Funding.

A Cross Boundary Admission Panel meets in May each year to review funding requests submitted to host authorities(before 28th February) to agree levels of funding for Cross Boundary purposes for the new session commencing in August. Any requests submitted after this date will be considered by individual authorities, throughout the year, on an individual basis.

Eligible children aged 2 years will receive their funding the term after their 2nd birthday.

Children aged 3-5 years will receive their funding from the first Monday a month following the child’s 3rd birthday, irrespective of the Admission Policy of the named authority.
