Anthony CollinsAnthony Collins

Kilpatrick pupil Anthony Collins is leaving school to study Professional Cookery National 5 course at West College Scotland.

Anthony, who has an ASD and ADHD, made a circle of close friends at school and worked hard to achieve National 4 English, Cycle award at Level 4, National 3 Maths and units at National 3 in Science.

Last year, Anthony applied for the College link programme in Professional Cookery at West College Scotland and despite feeling anxious initially about attending, Anthony took this in his stride.  He worked extremely hard to complete all the work required to pass his REHIS certificate.  He was able to do this work with very little additional support and showed a commendable commitment to his course receiving excellent feedback regarding his attitude whilst at college.

He applied for a fulltime mainstream College place with support from Kilpatrick School and Skills Development Scotland he prepared for his interview which was a great success.  Anthony will start his Professional Cookery in later this month and we wish him every success.

Shaun Hendry

Shaun Hendry

After a successful work experience placement in Levengrove Park where he helped encourage recycling,  Shaun realised he would enjoy any opportunity to work outside and be active.

Shaun will be continuing his education at West College Scotland through their Learner Development Course.

As a pupil at Kilpatrick School, Shaun enjoyed practical tasks and loved opportunities to help others and be responsible.  This included giving up some of his lunchtime everyday to help staff collect lunches for young people.

Aside from being an extremely kind and caring young man, Shaun’s academic achievements included National 4 Physical Education, a Cycle award at level 4, National 2 course in English, Home Economics, Lifeskills Maths and  Music with additional units at Nat 3 in Music and Practical Cooking.

We wish Shaun luck for a bright future.

Peter is looking forward to the next chapter of education at West College Scotland where he will be part of the Learner Department Step 1 Programme.

But his dream is to be a bus driver in future, and he plans to take driving lessons soon.

As well as achieving a range of qualifications - courses for National 3 English, Practical Cooking, Music this year as well as National 4 Physical Education and some individual units in National 4 Art – Peter undertook a work experience placement in Our Lady of Loretto Primary where he was a great support to pupils.

Peter is an extremely helpful young man who has always set a great example for younger pupils.  He is hardworking, polite and always tries his best in anything he does.  We wish him all the best.
