Residents are being encouraged to show their support for West Dunbartonshire's military community at the annual Armed Forces Day parade.

The event - taking place on Saturday 9th July in Clydebank - will celebrate the service of service men and women, with veterans' groups, cadets and Scouts all participating.

Led by the Balaklava Pipes and Drums, the parade will kick off at 1pm in Three Queens' Square.

It will then make its way to Abbotsford Road, Chalmers Street, Kilbowie Road, and onto Dumbarton Road

Provost Douglas McAllister and Lord Lieutenant Jill Young will perform a salute outside Clydebank Town Hall, before the parade falls out into Hall Street.

Following the parade, members of the public are invited to attend a commemorative church service in the Town Hall at 2pm, conducted by Reverend Gregor McIntyre of Faifley Parish Church.

Provost Douglas McAllister said: "I am delighted to be part of this event recognising the bravery and dedication shown by our armed forces personnel over many years.

"The work they do on a daily basis is extremely important and I would encourage the people of West Dunbartonshire to turn out and show how much we value them.

"I'm sure it will be a proud day, especially watching our veterans marching together with the cadets as one."
