Staff at Linnvale Primary School and Early learning Centre were praised for working together to drive school improvement and develop strong, positive relationships during a recent inspection.
Inspectors met happy, confident children who are engaged in their learning and who are proud of their school, polite, well-mannered and welcoming to visitors.
The extensive outdoor learning space which supports children’s wellbeing and helps children understand nature and biodiversity is also helping children to be physically active and is enabling children to take their learning outdoors.
Children are proud of their forest, garden and greenhouse and the forest school initiative is supporting children’s wellbeing effectively with the vegetables they grow used to support the health and wellbeing curriculum.
Inspectors noted senior leaders and ELCC practitioners skilfully interact with children and plan meaningful experiences so they would make good progress in their learning.
Inspectors also highlighted staff who value and celebrate young people’s achievements and children who feel they have opportunities to discuss their achievements. Children are proud to be entered into the ‘Gold Book’ or achieve a ‘Wow’ slip when they have gone ‘above and beyond’ what is expected.
Teachers have been developing play pedagogy across the early stages for several years. The learning environments created are stimulating and well-resourced.
During the inspection of the ELCC, inspectors graded children’s progress as good and learning, teaching and assessment as very good. They also saw happy and confident children in well-resourced environments. Councillor Clare Steel, Convener of Educational Services attended Linnvale Primary School to congratulate the school on its achievement.
Councillor Steel said: “It was an absolute pleasure to visit this school and pass on my congratulations to the Headteacher, children and staff in person. The feedback they received as part of this inspection was really good, and from what I saw on my own visit, very well deserved.
“I would like to thank the Headteacher and all the staff for their dedication to achieve the best for the children they look after and for ensuring every child within their care is nurtured and encouraged to achieve their best.”
Councillor John Millar, Vice Chair of Educational Services, added: “It is clear from the report that both the school and the early learning centre is providing children with a fantastic start to their education. The outcome of this inspection is testament to the hard work being put in by the staff at Linnvale Primary School and ELCC to ensure every child is treated as an individual with care and attention with the welfare of each child at the heart of all they do.
