Gypsy and Traveller children have specific education needs as they often experience many breaks in their school based learning.

We recognise Scottish Gypsies and Travellers as distinctive communities who are committed to living a historic lifestyle.

Their children and young people have specific educational needs. Traveller children and young people experience significant interruptions to their school based learning.  West Dunbartonshire provides support through our Interrupted Learner provision.

Our Interrupted Learner teachers provide support twice a week on the Y Sort It bus at the Dennystown Forge site. This location provides e-learning opportunities on a variety of subjects via five satellite connected computers. A teacher is also available twice a week in a local library to offer intensive support for national qualifications.
