Under Section 50 of the Licensing (Scotland) Act a Building Standards Certificate is required to support an application for a license to permit the sale or use of alcohol. This certificate will indicate the status of any works carried out to a property under a Building Warrant and whether completion of these works either temporary or full has been granted. Under Section 89 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act local authority approval is required to permit the use of a raised structure for standing or seated accommodation. A raised structure is a platform, stand, staging or other similar structure and Building Standards will inspect to determine that the structure is safe, secure and has sufficient provision for means of escape during a fire or other emergency.
